Lecuona declared fit for Friday action at Estoril, to be reassessed after FP1

Thursday, 9 October 2025 09:44 GMT

The Spanish rider will be on track at a race weekend for the first time since July’s visit to Balaton Park

Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) will make his MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship comeback at the EICMA Estoril Round after being cleared to ride on Friday at the Circuito Estoril. The Spanish star suffered a distal forearm radius and ulna fracture when he was caught up in the Lap 1, Turn 2 pile-up at Balaton Park in July, and missed WorldSBK rounds at Magny-Cours at Aragon. The #7 underwent surgery on his injury, which was a success, and now he’ll be back on the CBR1000RR-R machine in Portugal; however, he will be reassessed after FP1.

Lecuona will leave Honda at the end of the 2025 season as he joins the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team for next year, but the two-time podium finisher will aim to leave the Japanese brand on a high. His comeback is at the scene of his last podium when he scored P3 with Honda in Race 1 last year. In 2025, the Valencia-born rider has a best of P5 in Race 1 at Assen and found himself taking the chequered flag more often than not inside the top ten.
